Gimp 2.8 brings relevant UI innovation
I love Gimp and free software, even if for a series of reasons I prefer to rely on Adobe suite. Maybe there’s a lot of people thinking the same of me, and today I tell to those people that Gimp will come with a TON of relevant user interface innovations, briefly my favourites:
- “Image parade“, instead of Adobe CS4′s tabs with the file name, we’ll see a series of thumbnails of open documents.

- “Mida’s touch”, iphone-like scroll: you click and drag on the viewport, this starts to move with a speed proportional with the speed of the drag. Unfortunately this has been introduced just for the “image parade” strip.
Question: why don’t we introduce this system in the main window and remove completely the scroll bars?
